There’s no way to sugarcoat the revised revenue estimates coming out of Santa Fe this morning. That glee we’ve been experiencing at the gas pump has a definite downside in a state that depends heavily on oil and gas revenue. New revenue estimates have been cut nearly in half.

The Legislative Finance Committee has begun a long week of hearings in Santa Fe, which will be the committee’s last meeting of the year and the run up to the LFC budget recommendations expected in early January. 

The much anticipated mid-session revenue estimates have been released and it has been determined that the change is less than 1 percent, which is deemed close enough for government work and to not change the estimates at all. However, the LFC did want to ...
