The University of New Mexico School of Architecture & Planning and the College of Fine Arts are co-sponsoring a lecture, “Feel the Force,” on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 5 p.m. in George Pearl Hall, located on Central and Stanford NE on the UNM main campus. The performance, “Don’t Leave Me,” followed by a Q & A session, is Friday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. at the Keshet Center for the Arts, located at 4121 Cutler Ave. NE in Albuquerque.

Fifteen years after the destruction of New York City’s World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, the structures known as the “twin towers” still loom large in public memory. Indeed, the World Trade Center, a project completed in 1973 according to the plans of modernist Minoru Yamasaki, stood for nearly three decades as a work much more notable as a global icon than as an architectural design.

What happens when architects think about the world beyond its physical framework is the concept explored by a team of architecture students and a faculty member from The University of New Mexico School of Architecture & Planning. It earned them an honorable mention in Pamphlet Architecture 36 competition.

The University of New Mexico School of Architecture & Planning hosts a public lecture by Samantha Edwards-Vandenhoek on Friday, July 22 from 3-4 p.m. in the auditorium at George Pearl Hall, located at Central and Stanford NE, on the UNM campus.
