New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez signed an approximate $294 million Special Session Capital Outlay Bill (SB 1) Wednesday that includes $9 million for UNM main campus and $5.3 million in funding for Domenici Center for Health Sciences Education.

The Health Science Center (HSC) and University College (UC) are collaborating to help improve academic advisement services at The University of New Mexico. Members of the College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, University College and Medical Laboratory Sciences program will meet throughout the spring semester to further advance advisement services provided during New Student Orientation.

On Monday, June 15 at 11:02 a.m., the University of New Mexico will conduct a test of its emergency notification systems. The test will include all parts of the University's warning systems including sirens, e-mail, text messaging, social media page updates and UNM website updates.

The University of New Mexico notified students and parents recently of the final New Mexico Lottery Scholarship amounts available for 2015-16. The awards still won’t meet 100 percent of tuition, but with enrollment numbers for the coming semester low and fewer students meeting the eligibility requirement of 15 credit hours, UNM students receiving the scholarship can expect to have approximately 93 percent of their tuition paid.

UNM’s Center for Water and the Environment recently hosted an awards ceremony recently for high school students. The students received awards from Brig. Gen. Mark Toy, commander of the South Pacific Division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Thirteen nursing students at the University of New Mexico-Gallup received their Nursing pins recently. Joined by families and friends, they recited the Florence Nightingale pledge and celebrated the completion of their course of study. Families were called on to present the pins to the students, and everyone enjoyed a post-ceremony celebration.
